The image shows a site that has used a widget design to render pages. It might not be obvious, but half the child nodes for the Home page help configure the rendering for the Home page, the other half our webpages themselves. Its not clear which is which.

There are many modern ways to create nested content within a node including Nested Content, Block List Editor, Grid View, Stack Content and Contentment to name a few.
